Don’t Suffer in Silence from a Burn Injury Sustained at a Los Angeles Holiday Rental Home

Many people are back from the holidays to the first few weeks of January, and are reliving their vacation time renting a holiday home for the season. But some people had horrific experiences at a rental property hosted by Airbnb or VRBO (to name a few), because of poorly maintained homes that have been on offer for rent for the holidays. It is not out of the realm of possibility that you were injured in a holiday rental home. You may have suffered a slip and fall, trip on wires or even a burn injury at your holiday rental venue.

Many people are embarrassed to discuss being burned at a holiday rental home, but it can happen. Whether you are burned by an appliance or from faulty wiring in a rental home, you can suffer a serious injury to your skin. Often a burn injury can take weeks to months to heal properly. You do not have to suffer in silence, and feel that it is “okay,” or that you “weren’t that badly injured.” We are here for you if you want to discuss being burned at a holiday rental home. Landlords and Home Owners Who Rent Out Homes Are Often Not Good Maintenance People

Just because someone rents out his home on a temporary or permanent basis to other people, it will not guarantee that the homeowner knows how to fix electrical issues at the residence. The homeowner who rents out a home to others may not qualify as a maintenance person, even on a good day! That being said, some homeowners just live with faulty wiring, electrical issues and dangerous outlets by avoiding those areas of the home when they are there.

For example, a homeowner with a faulty plug in a bathroom will know to plug a hair dryer in a different outlet. But when that same home is rented out for seasonal use to the public, the person renting out the home has no idea that plugging in a hair dryer into a faulty outlet will cause an electrical fire.

Common Burn Injuries and Severity from a Rental Home Electrical Problem

You can be injured and burned quite easily from a rental home electrical issue. You may suffer burns from:

  • Using outlets in the home
  • Using appliances that are not properly grounded
  • Turning on or off switches in the home
  • Experiencing arcing from faulty electrical outlets
  • Experiencing electrical surges from appliances in the home

If you are burned in a holiday rental home (such as AirBnB and VRBO), you can be seriously injured and have lasting and serious scars on your skin as a result of a burn. Your burn injury may include:

First-degree burns – Top skin layer red, swollen and painful to the touch, medical attention may be required.

Second-degree burns – Top two layers of skin with fluid leakage, blisters, reddening of skin and painful loss of skin, medical attention is required.

Third-degree burns – Penetration of full thickness of skin, permanent destruction of skin tissue, loss of skin layers, may be painless, charred skin, immediate medical attention is required to watch for breathing problems with this loss and injury.

If this has happened to you and you are personally injured or burned at your holiday home rental property, just call Walch Law at (844) 999–5342. We are able to talk to you about your case, and can explain the next steps to receiving a full recovery compensation package for your case.
