KNOTT’S BERRY FARM HIT WITH SECOND LOG RIDE LAWSUIT

Posted by Robert Walch | 6 September 2017 | 0 Comments

Knott’s Berry Farm is always a popular place for families to go and spend the day eating their famous friend chicken, hitting and rides and enjoying the sites. Unfortunately, one of their most popular rides is causing problems for patrons. According to the Orange County-based lawsuit, the log ride has been operating out of compliance for almost two years resulting in at least ten injuries and two lawsuits.

The Orange County Register reports on the details of the latest lawsuit resulting in injuries to a 5 year-old boy, “Charles Miller, then 5, was sitting on his father’s lap in May 2016 in the rear of the log when it suddenly decelerated after the final drop. Charles Miller hit his head on the back of the seat in front of him, fracturing his eye socket according to the suit. The injury led to vision problems and subsequent surgery to correct his vision.”

In addition to compensatory damages, the suit is also seeking punitive damages and attorneys fees. You may be wondering…what’s included in compensatory damages for your personal injury case? Damages is a legal term that refers to the sum of money you receive in a lawsuit. Compensatory damages include things like the many medical bills Charles Miller’s parents paid for to deal with his injury, the cost of his surgery as well as the additional financial and emotional that occurred as a result of the injury.
