NORTHRIDGE, CALIFORNIA HAS STATE’S MOST DANGEROUS INTERSCETION

Northridge just got a title it certainly does not want– home to the state of California’s most dangerous intersection. And the rest of Los Angeles did not so fare so well either, being responsible for over half of California’s most dangerous intersections according to a review of the 2015 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System. Looking at the number of accidents, injuries and fatalities the corner of Devonshire Street and Reseda Boulevard in Northridge scored the worst. If you have been injured in a serious car accident in Northridge, do not hesitate to get in touch with the highly capable lawyers at Walch Law immediately.

The Sundial reports on the findings of the study, “One of the biggest problems in this city are these large four to six lane boulevards- people drive 50-55 mph which creates these mini-freeways.” Not only is the Northridge corner a busy, fast-moving, multi-lane road, it is also extremely close to not only a lot of other cars but a lot of pedestrians as well. The Sundial adds, “The intersection is the focal point of four major commercial shopping centers and rests between CSUN and the 118 freeway. There are five major lanes, a left and right turn signal and the posted speed limit is 40 miles per hour.”

That is a lot activity for one intersection and no surprise that it is the site of so many non-fatal and fatal car accidents. Here’s a look at some of the other notably dangerous intersections that saw multiple deaths back in 2015:

  • Bridge Street & Gillman Springs Road (Moreno Valley)
  • Pearl Blossom Highway & Sierra Springs Highway (Palmdale)
  • Haskell Avenue & Roscoe Boulevard (Los Angeles)

If you are dealing with a serious car accident at a busy intersection such as the ones listed in Northridge, Moreno Valley, Palmdale and Los Angeles– you may have a really strong case against not only the other driver that hit you but the city as well. Not doing anything about a knowingly dangerous intersection often places some legal and financial responsibility on the city as well which can greatly aid in ultimately fixing the problematic and dangerous intersection but also in increasing your financial recovery.
