TOP TIPS FOR AVOIDING A LOS ANGELES MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENTS

Posted by Robert Walch | 4 December 2017 | 0 Comments

The open features of a motorcycle that makes it so alluring are also the features that make riders more vulnerable to serious accidents and injuries. This is especially true in Los Angeles, where the roads seem to get more crowded every year. If you or a loved one has recently been injured or killed in a Los Angeles motorcycle accident, do not hesitate to get in touch with Walch Law to discuss your case further.

The majority of motorcycle accidents occur between a motorcycle and a passenger car and unfortunately many of these accidents are deadly for the motorcycle rider and hardly impact the driver of the car. Here are some general tips to help you stay safe on your motorcycle on the busy Los Angeles roads:

  • Always wear a helmet when driving or riding a motorcycle. Riders without a helmet are 40% more likely to suffer a fatal injury when in an accident.
  • Road rash happens even when other injuries don’t and gets worse with the type of accident you are in. While you can’t necessarily avoid it, you can greatly reduce these types of injuries when you dress appropriately. Leather and other thick fabrics covering most of your body can act as a great barrier when you fall and skid on the hard road.
  • Always be on the defense. Your first day on the road you probably realized just how little attention other drivers are paying when it comes to motorcycles. To make up for the inattention of others, you should also practice defensive riding and be extra vigilant when riding your motorcycle. Keep a safe riding distance and always clearly indicate your intentions.
  • Be on the lookout for weather and road conditions. While we enjoy lovely weather the majority of the time in Southern California, it means that drivers are simply not prepared for when the weather is less than perfect. The one thing Southern California is not known for are awesome road conditions. The are so bad that the city is actually recently paid one biker $6.5 Million for the injuries he sustained from a pothole while riding his bike.

Even following every motorcycle safety tip can still result in a serious accident because of the negligent actions of the other party to the accident. If you have been injured or lost a loved one recently, you should get in touch with an experienced motorcycle accident attorney as soon as possible. We have decades of experience helping victims of Los Angeles motorcycle accidents and will work hard to get you the same great results we have gotten for so many of our clients in the past. We look forward to hearing from you.
