TRAVIS BARKER GETS INTO CALABASAS CAR ACCIDENT WITH SCHOOL BUS

It’s no secret a lot of celebrities call Calabasas their home and we don’t blame them! The restaurants are great, the public school system is top notch and it’s close but not too close to the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles. The Kardashians, Jessica Simpson and Travis Barker are just a few examples of Calabasas-based celebrities; and while they may be different than us in some respects, they too get into minor and major car accidents.

Most recently, the 42 year-old Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker was making a left hand turn on a residential street when a school bus hit him from behind. According to People.com, he was walking about but seemed dazed and the impact was strong enough to deploy air bags. There were no children on the school bus at the time of the Calabasas car accident.

Whether it is a school bus or a city bus, these types of crashes happen all the time partly because of the many limitations of these large passenger buses. For starters, they are much heavier than a car so their ability to react is significantly limited and slower. Additionally, buses have many blind spots so they do not always see everything around them. And finally, while Travis Barker appears to be ok, there are usually fairly serious if not deadly accidents because a school or city bus is so heavy so there is a tremendous amount of impact sustained by a much smaller car.

When you get into an accident with a school bus, you are usually bringing a lawsuit against the city. The good news about these lawsuits is that when clear fault has been established on the part of the school bus driver, the financial recovery can be substantial because cities and other government entities are required to carry very high insurance premiums for these very situations. The important thing to know about school bus personal injury accidents is that you have to act fast and call us immediately to get your case started. Why? Because any time you are filing a personal injury or wrongful death claim against a government agency, the statute of limitations (aka the amount of time you have to file a case) is much shorter than your average California car accident two year window and there’s a lot of administrative work that must get in.

Translation: you miss the window to file a claim against the city, you miss the chance to recover much-needed funds following your school bus accident. When the statute of limitations passes on a California personal injury claim, barring an extreme exception, there is nothing any lawyer can do to help you so do not delay. At Walch Law, we are here to help. If you have been seriously injured after getting hit by a school or city bus, we can help maximize your financial recovery. We are available 24/7 to talk so get in touch with us now.
