Many people assume that all car accidents are generally alike, and that they fall into general categories. But there are many different gradients in between, as to the complexity of a car accident and the reasons for a car accident. Any car accident has the potential to be a highly serious car accident, because the repercussions of an injury can change over time. Factor Related to Causing an Accident Can Be Complicated

Have you ever wondered what can cause an accident on the roads? Not to be too philosophical, but there are often a plethora of factors that occur at the exact same time, that will cause a serious accident to happen and occur. If one of those factors is taken away, many times, the accident will not be as severe. In the case of a wrongful death that happens as the result of a serious accident, many instances of other driver fault are the cause of making an accident a death certificate for one of the drivers unlucky enough to be hit by an inattentive or careless driver. A list of some of these factors can be noted below, and the factors that can cause a serious accident include:

  • Driver error in making turns
  • Driver drunk, high or on medication to impair senses
  • Driver unfamiliar with the roadways
  • Excessive speed for the weather conditions
  • Inclement weather for the roadway conditions
  • Driver on phone, talking to the children in the car
  • Driver inattention
  • Careless drivers
  • Overconfident younger drivers
  • Driving too slow for the conditions
  • Driver physical impairment
  • Driver with uncorrected eyesight

In the event that you are hit by a negligent driver or your loved one was killed by an inattentive driver, you can call our office today to discuss your wrongful death or personal injury claim. We are available at California Wrongful Death Lawyer toll free at 844.99.5342, to review and discuss your car accident or wrongful death claim for your loved one.

Can Potential Drunk Drivers Be Fleshed Out Before They Cause a Serious Accident?

It may surprise you to know that there are new testing and techniques available to determine if a person is a drunk driver on the roads. Besides the standard field sobriety and breath testing performed by law enforcement in the field at a drunk driving traffic stop, there may be other tests that a person can take to determine if the person is driving under the influence of alcohol. The testing called the Implicit Association Test or IAT, can be used to test drivers to determine if they are drunk behind the wheel. This test offers attitude objects and stimuli related to two attitude objects, which may be found using the past DUI behavior or P-DUI-IAT survey questioning the individual’s ideas about past drunken driving behavior. The P-DUI-IAT test asks people who may be drunk driving questions regarding their past drunk driving behaviors, but it is more than just a self-reporting test regarding whether the person is driving now drunk or not.1 the P-DUI-IAT test can predict self-reporting of past drunk driving and measure the future likelihood of drunk driving, for people who typically consume alcohol and get behind the wheel.

During the testing, the test works by getting a driver to show biases and preferences in the questions answered, and this might show a person’s proclivity to drink and drive in the future. An argument might be made that a person who has been drinking and driving in the past will perform these illegal behaviors again in the future. Either way, it may be a new way to help get drunken drivers off of the roads going forward.

Night-time Driving Can Affect Young and Old Drivers to Cause Serious Car Accidents

If you are driving in the night time, you can have problems with other drivers who are inattentive behind the wheel when it is dark. Night-time driving tasks are not easier than daytime, but instead can multiply manyfold, as there are more hazards to manage with driving after dark. If a driver is inexperienced and a young driver, or an elderly driver with failing vision, you can be at risk for a serious or even fatal accident, from being hit by a driver with poor vision in the evening. Some of the factors that can affect you as you are driving in the night and may be hit by another negligent driver can include:2

  • Harder to see dark colored cars at night
  • Hard to see pedestrians or animals at night
  • Harder to read street signs properly at night
  • Hard to see the road with oncoming headlights driving at night
  • Hard to see with a glare at dusk or dawn driving
  • Hard to adjust following passing headlights from oncoming cars at night
  • Hard to judge distances for turnoff and exits at night
  • Hard to not tailgate other cars at night
  • Hard to see in the rain or in poor weather driving at night
