TROY GENTRY’S WIDOW FILES WRONGFUL DEATH LAWSUIT

Posted by Robert Walch | 26 February 2018 | 0 Comments

Country singer Troy Gentry died in a tragic helicopter accident back in September 2017. The member of Montgomery Gentry was killed along with the pilot of the helicopter. His wife Angie Gentry has now filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation, Sikorsky Global Helicopters Inc. and Keystone Helicopter Corporation. Among the claims in Troy Gentry wrongful death lawsuit is the failure of the named parties to make the civilian version of the Model 269 helicopter crash worthy as they did with the military version.

Rolling Stone reports on the details of the wrongful death lawsuit, “Because of defects in the engine, throttle cable attachment and collective control the helicopter did not enter into autorotation like it was supposed to. It did not disengage smartly from the engine so the engine rotors slowed to a speed slower than would permit a safe autorotation, thus allowing the helicopter to drop like a stone to the ground below, killing all aboard.”

A lot of wrongful death cases such as the one filed by the family of Troy Gentry rely very heavily on expert testimony and accident reconstruction to help put together what exactly went wrong and why someone or some company is the one to blame for the avoidable death. In this case there are a lot of evidentiary and liability issues that will require such expertise. For this reason, among others it is always best to work with an experienced wrongful death attorney in the event of a tragic death.

California wrongful death cases are complicated but always worth your effort to get in touch with an attorney. Potential areas of recovery include:

  • Loss of income/financial support of the deceased (in this case, this figure is substantial)
